*******************************************

Kolkata, 30th May; RANG SAGA'S main thematic is Body Positivity and Bodily Autonomy, a topic not so much talked about. 28th May was "International Menstrual Health and Hygiene Day" that's why "Rangeen Khidki" had chosen that day for the Annual Fundraising event "RANG SAGA" for a cause. The event was held at a prestigeous renowned club in Kolkata. The event celebrated body positivity, diversity and inclusion by offering art showcases and fun activities. "Rangeen Khidki" spreads awareness about menstrual education, mental health, comprehensive gender, sexuality education and life skills. On this occasion, on the panel discussion Actor Ms. SWASTIKA MUKHERJEE was the key-note/guest speaker, alongwith a panel of speakers comprising of Mr. PUSPAK SEN, Celebrity stylist and influencer, Mr. INDRONEEL MUKHERJEE, Fashion Designer and Pageant Coach and Ms. ANWESA CHAKRABORTY, Former Miss Plus Size India -2019 made the session invigorating. The panel discussion was moderated by Mr. MEGHDUT ROYCHOWDHURY, Co-founder and Chief Evangelist... Y-East  Executive Director & Chief Innovation Officer, Techno India Group.

Ms. SANJINA GUPTA, Founder and Director of "RANGEEN KHIRKI" said, " We work mainly on menstruation with underresoursed community, adolescence including women and we also work with the youth across various sections of the society. We do a menstruationcentric program which is called "Period Adda" because menstruation is not only about hygiene it's about health also. It's a human right, it's a health right. We have one more program called "Comprehensive Sexuality Education".... 'my body, my rights.' We work with thousands of girls, children, parents, teachers and different associations because no child grows up in isolation, each & every child is growing up in a community, and we actually want to bring the change in community level also. We work with girls, women and also with young boys and people from other genders, because gender is no more in bynaries now.

RIJU, a non-binary woman is here today with us and he is a non-binary trans*. She/they is an intersectional trans* feminist who currently works at the YP Foundation in the space of sexual-reproductive health, rights and justice. She is a writer and an educator who aspires to document lived experiences of being trans* and navigating through desire, dysphoria and life at large. This panel discussion is curated by Y-East. Bodily autonomy and body image has the potential to impact one's life and sometimes and statements which are often made by people around us alongwith the messaging in popular culture could make a mark on how one learns to see themselves. This can potentially affect their lifer choices , mental health, self belief and relationships. It impacts what they want to do with their bodies , how they access their sexual and reproductive health and rights and therefore we found it important to set the entire event on bodies , diversities and acceptance. We, at RANGEEN KHIRKI, are working with the aim to build innovative ways to educate and empower communities on human rights largely and sexual and reproductive health and rights."

The Co-founder and Chief Evangelist, Y-East and Executive Director & Chief Innovation Officer of Techno India Group Mr. MEGHDUT ROY said, "Bodily autonomy is a clear idea about a person's wholeself, their dreams and potentials in life. Each of us have a right to bodily autonomy and the power to make our own choices about our bodies. I truly believe that it's important to aware people around us on body positivity helping them to love their bodies no matter what they look like. I'm proud to be a part of this panel discussion where some like-minded people are working towards this idea."

Ms. SWASTIKA MUKHERJEE shared her personal experiences and perspectives on "Body Positivity" at the panel discussion. She said, " New generation don't make a big deal of things that is going on the society, and they come up with quick solutions. They want to have conversations with their parents but sometimes they hesitate to do so because they don't want to put their parents in an awkward situation. But I think they should be given a chance to speak out about their drawbacks, weaknesses, problems, and different issues. If we find people are critisizing us for our body shapes or our drawbacks, instead of getting upset, we must ignore and avoid their criticism and we must carry on with our good work and we also have to love our own body and love ourselves and stay happy every day. "

Another highlight of the event was a Stand-Up Comedy Act by Ms. AMRITA CHANDA. Y-East connects impact-focused organisations working in the social and environmental sustainability sectors in East and North-East India.
