First time Jai Basantu Singh, worked with a screenplay by Raaj Shandilyaa crafts a Socially relevant Film that for the most part makes the right noises and that is undoubtedly commendable. The makers of this Film are driven by the belief that they are doing women's empowerment a world of good to a certain extent, they are not wrong at all.
The Film "Janhit Mein Jaari", is a story of a young girl/lady Manokamna ( Nushrratt Bharucha), a crusader who takes up the challenging job of selling taboo and how she handles the resistance from her family and the entire town ( Chanderi, MP). The film encompasses the journey of "Manu" who sells condoms for a living , despite social resistance , and decided to teach family , in-laws and the society at large an important lesson. "Janhit Mein Jaari" promises to entertain with it's powerpacked performance, hilarious dialogues and thought provoking subject. Interestingly given the central message of the film and it's dire need in current times. The first half of the film is fun is the writing. It's light and fun and all the cheracters do their job very well. Post interval the Film becomes preachy . Manokamna says to the groups of ladies that condoms are not just for pleasure but it's also instruments that keep women from unwanted abortions which in town prevents untimely tragic death.
Manokamna, "Manu" in this story is a sales executive of a small condom company in Chanderi town in MP and she is out there to break the taboo. Nushrratt's performance is quite straight forward and she has given her best while acting in this movie. Her husband "Ranjan" ( Anud Singh Dhaka) with whom she was in love and got married very soon... he knows what is right but can't express it because of parental pressure. Manokamna doing a job riddled with stigma and predominantly associated with men, the film follows Manokamna's journey as she battles the societal taboos around condoms. "Manu" is a double MA and accepts the position in a condom company, she gets married soon and her decision doesn't go down well with her parents and puts her at odds with her nosey and orthodox neighbours. Only two men stand by "Manu" and that's her childhood friend "Devi" who loves her secretly, and the owner of "Little Umbrella Private Limited" where Manokamna works. The intent is sincere no doubt. There is a good scene when the idea of condoms as protection is asserted instead of being used as an accessory for pleasure. The Film also takes a feeling yet valiant stand on the subject of abortion. This is a screenplay that tries to have enough confidence in its sincerity and the laughter flows originally. It tries to strike that sweet spot between comedy and issue-tackling. In order to stick to the narrative
